Ohio State has finally broken the curse of the bowl games in their win against Oregon in the Rose Bowl January 1, 2010. OSU was ranked 8th and Oregon was ranked 7th going into the game. OSU won with a score of 26-17. Coach Jim Tressel is in his 9th year at OSU and has a 94-21 overall record.
Sophomore quarterback for OSU Terrelle Pryor finally had the game of his life. He struggled early in the season however he finished strong with a career high passing for 266 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 72 yards in his breakout performance. Terrelle Pryor was also awarded the high honor of Most Valuable Player of the game.
The Oregon Ducks are a dangerous team because of the speed of their offense. They only had a one dimension offense as the OSU defense held the Ducks to 81 passing yards and 12 first downs compared to OSU’s 26. Penalties also hurt the Ducks as they were called 7 times for a total of 59 yards. Total yards OSU had 419 compared to Oregon’s 260 yards and time of possession was also dominated by OSU with 41:37 versus Oregon’s 18:23.
