The 2010 winter Olympics are only 43 days! The final roster spots will be decided between now and February 1. There are over 200 athletes that will make up Team USA in the following sports: biathlon and cross country, luge, bobsled and skeleton, figure skating, ice dancing, snowboarding, alpine skiing, Nordic combined and ski jumping, speedskating and short track, figure skating, curling and ice hockey.
The life of an athlete is not always fun and games. This is their passion but also their profession. Olympic athletes are some of the most talented athletes in the world. It comes with a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Colorado Springs is the home of the U.S. Olympic Training Center and national headquarters. Other training centers include Chula Vista, California; Lake Placid, New York; an Education Center at Northern Michigan University. The United States also provides training centers for Paralympic athletes.
Ralph Lauren has designed the USA Team apparel which includes the parade outfits and the Olympic Village wardrobe which sports bold graphics. The warm up jackets are white with red and blue stripes on the sleeves. The designs are based on the 1930’s games and very functional. Each sport will have a signature look for example the reindeer design on the alpine ski sweaters. Nike will provide competition gear, footwear and the sweat suits for the medal stands. Niketown stores will have the Olympic apparel for sale to the public. One thing is for sure, our athletes will look good!
