Basics of Isometrics

Isometric exercise is a great addition to any workout; it strengthens the muscle near the joint at which the exercise is performed. It builds strength however it does not replace resistance strength training for sports like jumping and sprinting. There are some sports that require isometric exercise to stabilize the body such as climbing sports, shooting sports and gymnastics. Isometric exercises are often used in yoga, pilates and martial arts to strength the core of the body. Isometric exercise is often used during rehabilitation from surgery or injuries. For maximum benefits three sessions per week and you will start to see results in two weeks.http://www.isometricsandseniors.com/2008/12/28/isometric-exercise.html
