The Tennessee State Museum The original Tennessee State Museum was on the public square in Nashville. In 1981 the museum was moved to the James K. Polk Center with over 120,000 square feet on three floors. Some of the permanent Exhibits are The First Tennesseans, Antebellum, The Frontier, The Civil War and Reconstruction, The Age of Jackson and The New South. The Military Museum is located across the street from the Tennessee State Museum and is considered a branch of the museum. Many educational opportunities are available for teachers that include lesson plans and for the students to learn about the history of Tennessee.http://www.igopioneering.com/blog/2009/05/21/tennessee-state-museum.html
