Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Guadalupe Mountains in New Mexico is the home of the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Visitors can tour the caves on their own. The Carlsbad Caverns include the Big Room which is the second largest cave chamber in the world and features a natural limestone chamber. Other areas to explore in the Caverns include Chocolate High which is a maze of small passages which leads to the Chocolate Drop, a mud filled pit. Bat Cave houses the majority of the bat population in the Caverns. The Bell Cord Room features stalactites coming through the ceiling similar to a rope.  The park is governed by the National Park Service established May 14, 1930.http://www.highwaytraveling.com/2009/07/19/carlsbad-national-park.html
