Cleveland Browns fire general manager George Kokinis with less than a year on the job after the embarrassing loss to the Bears Sunday 30-6. Rumors have it that Kokinis was removed from practice by security on Monday. Kokinis had 18 years of experience in the NFL and he also coached with Mangini in Cleveland under Bill Belichick in the early 1990’s. Kokinis was brought to the Browns by head coach Eric Mangini to lead the team.
Not only have there been problems with the management of the Browns, but the quarterback controversy continues. With Anderson having the worst quarterback rating in the league Mangini still supports him. With the distractions off the field Mangini needs to pull his players together during the week off. The players need to recommit as individuals and then as a team to finish strong.
After one of the worst starts ever for the Browns, owner Randy Lerner has committed to find a new leader to reorganize the football operations after a disastrous 1-7 start. Bernie Kosar former Browns quarterback has been hired by Lerner as a consultant. As playoff hopes are gone all Cleveland can do now is start making plans for next year’s draft and free agent players. For now Eric Mangini still has a job with the Browns, however how much more will Lerner tolerate. The Browns have a buy this week and a chance to regroup before they play again on November 16, against the Ravens in Baltimore on Monday Night Football.
