Janet Evanovich is the author of the ever popular Stephanie Plum romantic mysteries series. She like many other writters struggled at the beginning of her career, but like most get that one lucky break. Evanovich started writing romance novels and was very successful. After she published her 12th novel she had a change of heart and wanted more action. These original books were written under the name of Steffie Hall. Janet then took the next 18 months to figure out which direction she was going to take.
Evanovich has a unique style of writing where her stories are in first person narrative. Her inspiration came from the movie Midnight Run by Robert De Niro. Her heroine, Stephanie Plum would be a bounty hunter. This took a lot of research and she actually shadowed different bond enforcement agents. Evanovich had her first Stephanie Plum Series published in 1994 One for the Money. Evanovich now has 15 novels in the series with Finger Lickin’ Fifteen released June 23, 2009.
In between her Stephanie Plum Series she a few Holiday novels such as Visions of Sugar Plums, Plum Lovin’, Plum Lucky and Plum Spooky. Evanovich also teamed up with Charlotte Hughes with another series called The Barnaby Series featuring Metro Girl. This made the New York Times Best Seller List, but did not make it to the top. It took six books in the Stephanie Plum series to make it to number one on the New York Times Best Seller List with Hot Six.
