Moms that are Professional Athletes

Moms do a lot for kids that participate in sports, but what about the mom that is an athlete also? There is even more to think about for moms that are successful olympic or professional athelets. They are continually training, traveling and taking care of the family. The sacrificies that have to be made by the individual and family can be stressful.  The workouts are very demanding and they train all year. They must be able to perform at the highest level day in and day out. Knowing that an injury could end their career is always in the back of their mind.  The inner strength and comitment these women posess is truly amazing.

Some very popular moms in sports include Jennie Finch former Arizona pitcher and Gold Medalist in the 2004 Olympics. Tennis player Lindsay Davenport and basketball players Sheryl Swoopes and Lisa Leslie.  The current captain of the U.S. soccer team Christine Rampone is making a comback after taking a break from having her first child. Don’t forget about Dara Torres, four time Olympic gold medalist competing in five Olympics.

It is more common today than ever before to find moms competing in the olympics and professional sports. Mothers need to have time for their personal goals and interests to achieve balance in her life. Moms are able to achieve their goals by building a suportive family network and a time management plan.  For all the young girls wanting to compete and have families follow your dreams, work hard and have fun!
