Famous Moms With Kids In Sports

Famous moms realize how important it is for their children to follow their dreams and excel in their talents. Many famous moms relocated their families so their children had access to the best coaches, resources and facilities available to expand and stretch their talents.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell moved to Vancouver, Canada so their son could pursue and realize his dream in hockey. Wyatt Russell is not immune from injuries and has had injuries along the way. The most serious injury was a concussion but he returned to play the following day. Nicole Bobek’s mom Jana Bobek was a talented and graceful skater. Nicole is following in her mom’s footsteps with a Bronze medal at the 1995 World Figure Skating Championships. Allen Iverson, an NBA player with the Philadelphia 76ers, had a great support system. His mom Ann was present at each of his games to cheer him on. When he landed a position on the 76ers, his mom created a sign that read, “That’s My Boy.” Wilma McNabb, mom to Eagles star Donovan McNabb, is readily involved and currently holds the vice president position with the NFL Mother’s Association. As her son’s manager, she wheels and deals with his endorsement opportunities and Donovan’s own foundation. Sarah Palin’s daughter is a hockey player. Miranda is just beginning her position on a hockey team at the age of 10. Sarah is known to say that she is not there for her daughter and rather it is because she desires to shriek.

As with any sport, there are risks involved, the potential of injuries and the possibility of death. However, the famous moms know that their children need to follow their heart and live life to the fullest through their talents.
