Being a mom is hard enough. There are so many things that you are expected to do or else they just won't get done but being a sports mom takes that to a whole new level. Sports moms are the ones that support, cajole and cart around their kids so they can participate in the sports and activities that the kids are interested in.
First and foremost the sports mom is responsible to make sure they are there for their child. This includes making sure they are given the physical and emotional support that they need. You start by making sure they are fed and hydrated. Then you make sure their uniforms are ready. You help them dress if need be and then grab the snacks, equipment and chairs to load them into the car. You get to the field and sit close enough to watch but not too close to embarrass anyone. You cheer, never criticize and you might even man the refreshment stand if you are a team volunteer. You might be more involved with the team activities such as helping at practices, driving kids to and from games or even becoming a scorekeeper for the team.
The most important role though is being supportive for the child. It is important that you are the positive one, which you try to encourage and support your child in whatever sport they have an interest in. Making sure they are physically fit and ready to play without getting hurt is also important. Lastly, making sure they know that win or lose you still love them might be the most important role of all.
