Celebrities are pretty close-mouthed about what their children do. They try to keep them out of the public eye and therefore there isn’t much out there written about them.
However, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s son Wyatt is a rising hockey star in his own right. He is currently playing in Vancouver, Canada and Goldie admits to having mixed emotions about the sport and the fact that her son wants to play. He loves the game, Goldie said, but she worries about the possibility of injuries many hockey players sustain. She says it is very hard to watch some opposing player hitting her son with a hockey puck and she wants to retaliate, but of course she can't and wouldn't.
Nicole Bobek, our United States ice skating champion in 1995, followed in her mother Jana's footsteps. In 1998, Nicole skated in the Nagano Olympics, placing 17th overall. In 2000, she became a professional when she signed with Tom Collins Champions on Ice.
It is very hard for children of famous people to compete in school sports due to the attention they will bring. It will be hard for other parents and children to even get close to a sports field if there is a child of a celebrity there and crowds would be hard to manage. People need to realize that famous people’s children have the right to compete like others and not be overwhelmed with cameras and reporters. After all, they are just children, and their privacy should be respected. If it was, undoubtedly more of these children would chose to compete, as they should.
