Tailgating parties are more than just sodas and snacks out of the back of someone’s SUV. Tailgating parties are a wonderful opportunity for friends and family to gather together and celebrate children’s games and the spirit of friendly competition. Of course, any party needs fabulous food and great drinks to truly make it a celebration. For your next children’s tailgating party, try a new party punch recipe instead of the standard pop or juice.
Sherbet is a great main ingredient for your punch. Pick a sherbet in your favorite team colors, such as raspberry (red), lime (green), or orange. Add a fizzy soda such as ginger ale, Squirt, or 7-Up. You can also add a can of fruit juice for additional flavor. If your team’s colors include blue, you can start with a blue fruit drink such as blue raspberry. You can also start with any color Kool-Aide drink mix to get your team colors. Then add juice and a fizzy soft-drink to give your punch sparkle. Add sliced fruit to float in each punch cup for a festive and fancy touch.
A great basic party punch for a children’s tailgating party is Lime Sherbet Punch. Take 2 quarts of lime sherbet, 2 liters of ginger ale and one 46 ounce can of pineapple juice. Pour the ginger ale and juice over the sherbet and serve. This is a quick and easy recipe to use and can be adapted to any flavor of sherbet. Float pieces of lemon, lime, and a maraschino cherry in each cup for the finishing touch.
