Youth sports have become an extremely large part of not only the lives of young people, but of their parents as well. Sports for children are becoming more and more competitive and often require more time on both the parts of the children and their parents. Nowadays, children are expected to practice multiple times during the week and even on weekends -- not to mention the games. It used to be that youth sports were solely for kids to have fun and learn the game. Today, coaches are often requiring camps for more practice time and skill development. This causes stress on top of school classes and homework. This also puts added stress on the parents to get their children to practices, games, and team activities. Of course, youth sports are still about having fun, but the players are encouraged to work harder than ever before.
There are all types of sports available for kids, such as basketball, football, baseball, hockey, soccer, golf, gymnastics, softball, lacrosse, and more. Depending on where you live, some of these sports may or may not be available. Weather conditions often factor into a sport's availability in a certain area.
Youth soccer has exploded over the last decade or so; so much, in fact, that it has become one of the fastest growing sports for young athletes to participate in. Although basketball, baseball, and football are still very popular sports for kids to play, other less common sports, such as lacrosse, are beginning to take hold.
