Top 3 Tailgate Fare

Tailgating parties are fun, casual get togethers that typically accompany stadium events. Tailgate menus can be as simple as sandwiches and chips or more ornate barbecues and hot-dish fares. They can be held, literally, on the tailgate of your truck or in you living-room before your wide-screen TV. Wherever you hold your party, here are the top three tailgate recipes to get your it underway.

Number one on the list is the ever popular ‘veggie tray.’ For most tailgaters, a veggie tray offers something to nibble on before and after the main fare. Usually served with a creamy dip, it can consist of any combination of raw, edible vegetables, such as carrots, celery, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, cauliflower and broccoli florets.

Chicken ‘hot’ wings are number two on the list. When serving hot wings, you need to keep in mind that 5 to 7 wings per person make for an appetizer; while 10 to 15 wings per person make for a meal. You can make them the day before as they are equally as savory cold as hot.

Number three, and virtually everyone’s favorite, is Chili. This ‘Texas-state’ dish is always welcomed, particularly during football events when a hearty bowl offers warmth against the bitter cold. You can make your favorite recipe ahead of time and warm it on site. Indeed, as any chili-lover will tell you, it’s best reheated as the flavors and consistency are heartier and richer.

Serve these top three tailgate ideas and you're guaranteed both fun and success. Bon appetite, and may the best team win.
