Have you or your kids ever tore a ligament or rolled an ankle while playing a sport? Well if you have you are not the only ones. Sport injuries are very common and depending on the sport being played, are bound to happen. Busted elbows, broken bones, road rash and even concussions can and will take any player on any team out of the game.
So what do you do when your child pulls a muscle and is in serious pain? Of course, the first thing you do is seek medical aid, but if no EMTs are around, what do you do? Well the human body naturally recovers, so all you really need is time. During your recovery time, you need to ice down the injury, elevate the injured area, tightly wrap a bandage around the injury, and just rest. If an injury is so severe that a stay at home self recovery will not work, there are many different facilities where an injured athlete or child can recover with modern medicines and technology.
Health care centers and rehabilitation centers offer professional physical therapy to help children athletes return to their normal health. If your child suffers from a concussion it is very important to seek professional aid, due to the fact that a concussion is a mild type of brain trauma. A simple broken bone can be splinted so that the muscle around it will not get cut and worsen the injury. If the bone has pierced the skin then splint above and below the wound, cover the wound to prevent infection and seek medical aid.
Any type of sports injury can create permanent damage but, if cared for properly and promptly, a full recovery can be achieved. Do not take a chance with a hurt athlete, no matter how strong they are or what their age is. Take care of them.
